You might have heard of a trend called forest bathing - it is basically the concept of being surrounded by trees and taking in the positive energy that plants radiate. It is scientifically proven that trees exchange energy and information between each other - mostly through their roots and also share healing energy with us. We all know that trees are the natural air purifier of this planet so being around them can only have positive effects on us.
Unfortunately many people don't see or feel that we are part of nature, that we are nature in fact as well. We go through cyclical growth, physically and mentally, as much as mother nature embodies cycles. This is a much underrated fact that could help us so immensely to get through life with more ease and better health. Instead of trying to fight cycles, phases and aging processes we should embrace them and use them for our highest good. We just have to take a look at nature and the plants and take them as an example. No tree can flower or bear fruits all year long and neither can we.
Humans go as much through phases of low energy as trees for example. Too often we want to push through and ignore our need for rest and hibernation which can cause sever illnesses on a long term basis. I don't want to get too much into our terrible need for trying to stop our aging process here (one article that gets more into this topic of embracing aging -https://www.artika-healing.com/post/why-don-t-you-like-your-wrinkles-aging-is-not-our-enemy ) but ageing and dying is a natural part of us and it is long overdue to see and deal with it like that.
By taking nature as an example and live more by its rules and through its cycles we can gain so much more wellbeing in our lives. A lot of people, especially the ones that live in cities are disconnected from nature these days. Remember how good it feels to sit at least in a park under a tree to escape the hectic of a city. Now imagine how good it is for us to be surrounded by hundreds or thousands of trees and plants in an old forest. The more we connect to nature the more we can find balance within ourselves. As mentioned we are part of nature and that means being in nature is like coming back to ourselves. That is why it is so healing. Cities can be fun and exciting to live in but we are not part of concrete and high buildings, traffic and smog. If we live in a city we separate us from a part that is so deeply within us - that is us. Not everyone has to move into a cabin in the woods - although that would probably help a lot of us - but it is essential to spend as much time in nature as possible.
There are many different ways to really connect to nature and to take in the healing energy of it. Everybody has their own way and just has to find out what works best. Connecting to the elements, or one element that we feel more drawn to can be very powerful as well. Water is one of the most healing elements, physically and emotionally -imagine how good it feels to just have a shower at the end of the day. Little things like this can help but the more we connect to a source element the stronger its power is. A source element is the element in its essence. The essence of the element fire for example is the sun or a volcano, the one of the element water is the ocean or a waterfall. The element earth is literally earth under our feet - that is also why walking barefoot is so good for us. The more we can use the energy of the elements in its essential form the more powerful it is for us.
Now, coming back to the healing abilities of trees. It is such a simple yet effective way to calm ourselves and destress, to reconnect to ourselves and just take a break from whatever is on our minds. Meditating under a tree can be very healing and helps us to reset our nervous system, which very often is constantly on alert. This state of alertness is stress and stress makes us sick. Unfortunately most people go to a doctor who just describes pills to fight uncomfortable symptoms when we could heal ourselves with connecting to nature more often. There is plenty of great information about grounding (walking barefoot), forest bathing and how it is connected with electrons and positive and negative energy out there if you'd like to read about the scientific point of few.
For me, like mentioned, connecting to nature means reconnecting to our selves, our essence and that is why it is so healing. In this fast paced life it is vital to stop way more often and just sit in nature and breath. Listen to the wind, touch a tree and feel the grass underneath you. This might seem like it's not much but if done with total awareness and openness to its energy it is one of the most healing practices we can have. It is free, powerful and easy to do. Nature is our most intelligent doctor and gives answers to how our bodies and our minds work. We are a reflection of nature's cycles and everything we find in nature can be taken as metaphor and example for ourselves and our being. If you want to find out how humans function just take a look at mother nature and she will give you all the answers. Now, go and hug that tree, take your shoes off and touch the earth and embrace the silence of the forest - it has so much to tell you.
