The universe is not testing you.

There is a common idea that the universe is constantly challenging and testing us. That life is a test given by a higher power is probably a very old belief that might have deeply religious roots. Almost every big religion in the world sells the idea that God tests us and if we fail we get punished or that every challenge that happens in life is supposed to test our faith. These days social media is full of 'when the universe is testing you - memes' and as funny as they are for me it is just that, fun to take things not that serious.

I believe that the idea of a powerful force testing us through our lives is a very narrow belief made up in our minds. It humanizes the universal power, God or whatever you want to call it. It probably makes things easier and simplifies how the universe works but it takes away our own power. I guess this is why religion plants this idea of a higher force testing us because it makes us humans less powerful than we actually are.

I don't think that we are being tested, I think that we are testing ourselves. Everything we experience is a result of our energy, may it be human, soul or higher self. The concept of karma for me is a better way to explain the difficulties that happen in our lives. We attract what we vibe and sometimes (or actually most of the time) what we put out there is hidden deep in our subconscious or comes from past lives and the fact that it is not conscious to us makes it seem as if some outside force puts these challenges in our way. We all like to give away responsibility for negatives things that happen but fact is that we create our reality and as much as I believe that there are so many higher powers in all different kinds of forms I still think that non of these give us tests in any way. For me the universe will not interfere with our lives. It provides passive support, that I believe. We have many guides and helpers around us, some visible and many not but still they will not control our life events in any way. That goes against universal laws. We can get signs and hints as guidance, our intuition is the strongest guide, unfortunately underdeveloped in many of us and so worthy of being strengthened.

Nobody wants to hear that whatever terrible thing happens is self-made and that explains the 'test-concept' to me so well. If we can change our perspective and realize that this shows the immense power we have we might start to think differently about this. Also, it is not like you - insert your name - made all the mess in your life. There are so many layers to our existence that is hard to grasp for the human mind. When I say we create our difficulties, I mean we in all our forms and parts, our souls, chose so many factors that our human self might not agree with but this is still us. We bring karma from infinite life times into this incarnation and this is what can make life seem messy. We are testing ourselves throughout all those life-times. Our soles want to experience all these things and this is the change of perspective - nothing is a test- everything is an experience. If we can see it like this we will feel way more peaceful about what is going on around us. If we judge less into good and bad and start to see life as this, yes, intense but also amazing experience we can have a much more peaceful life. To give away our power might seem like the easier choice in the moment but in the long run it will make us more miserable. If you really believe that we are constantly being tested by someone or something life will always seem like a never-ending burdensome farce. If we realize that we are the ones that create and call in whatever we wanted to have mirrored to us we can change it and act in a way that attracts all the positive things we desire. Of course this doesn't mean that we will never experience challenges in life, as mentioned there are just so many factors like karma that will bring in difficulties, but through consciousness about this we become able to navigate through life with much more ease.

We have to change our perspective of blaming someone for what happens to us. Blaming someone means we see ourselves as victims and this is the lowest form of consciousness that only imprisons us. It is not easy but if we train our mind to recognize something positive in any situation it will make all the difference, and it is a training to reprogram our minds. We are so conditioned to focus on what we describe as negative that it will take a while to switch from victim to creator mentality. Start today and find something that made you learn and evolve in whatever unpleasant situation because this is what you have created for yourself too, the growth, the depth and the joy in everything you experience.
